Dissecting Room for Therapists, NECK & HEAD, 8th August 2023 and 2024

Date: 8th August 2023 - also SPRING and AUTUMN 2024 (dates to be announced Autumn 2023).

This unique course at the King's College Dissecting Room will focus entirely on the muscles, nerves, vessels and bones of the head and neck.

Dissecting Room Day with focus on Head & Neck - £295

You will be working respectfully on cadavers in the Dissecting Room of the Anatomy Department of King's College in London.

It is a rare opportunity to view, examine and gain advanced understanding of the body under the skin. You will examine muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, bones and much more, giving you a huge advantage in your skill and training as a physical therapist.

    Viewing and examining the muscles you work on every day

    Viewing and examining the muscles origins and insertions

  • Understanding anatomical structure

    Access to prosections, real bones, nerves, fascia etc.

    This course is created specifically to massage therapists and other physical therapist (all levels of education are welcome)

This course is taught by Health Professional Tina Jensen Friis as well as lecturers and doctors of the Anatomy Department at King's College London. The course only runs a few times every year, so book your space early as spaces are limited and the course is very popular.

Tina has worked with the body and mind for more than 20 years. She has a number of qualificatons in physical and psychological therapies from St. Mary's University Twickenham, Exeter College, University of West London and many more. Tina holds a great enthusiasm and fascination for the human body and mind along with excellent teaching skills, which makes her courses interesting and approachable for everyone.

The course has 3 non-successional days, choose both upper body and lower body/pathology as well as head & neck to achieve full body exploration. You can choose Day1, Day2, Day3 and/or Day4 in both Spring and Autumn and they do not need to be taken in any order nor in the same month. If you book more days at the same time, you will get a more-days-discount.
The course includes preparation for your days in the dissecting room, health and safety, pathology talk by pathology doctor from King's College, anatomy talk by Tina Jensen Friis, access to and examination of cadavers and prosections guided by King's College doctors and lecturers, access to dissection museum along with supporting written material. King’s Gordon Museum of Pathology is the largest medical museum in the UK and contains some rare and unique artefacts including Lister’s antiseptic spray and the original specimens of kidneys, adrenal glands and lymph nodes which led Richard Bright, Thomas Addison and Thomas Hodgkin to describe the medical conditions that bear their names.
When you join a King's College Dissecting Room course they all include at least a 1 hour visit to the Gordon Museum of Pathology!

Prerequisite
